A Fort Frances Councillor is responding to a report from the town’s Integrity Commissioner expected to be made public next week.
The full report has not yet been disclosed, but Doug Judson reveals some of the contents that alleges he contravened the municipal Code of Conduct.
The Integrity Commissioner ties the breach to Judson’s response on social media last November to a newspaper letter written by an unnamed resident of Flinder’s Place regarding the eventual renaming of Colonization Road.
Judson attributed the author as a “white senior citizen.”
Another unidentified person, who was not the letter’s author, took exception and filed a two-complaint last December.
In a statement, Judson notes that the Integrity Commission dismissed most of the complaint. However, he sees the ruling around the municipal Code of Conduct to be based on several erroneous findings and a flawed interpretation and application of the Code.
The Integrity Commissioner is expected to present his findings next week and identify sanctions town council could take.
A letter from Judson’s lawyer to council warns of legal action if they adopt the Integrity Commissioner’s recommendations.
