Outstanding warrant arrest leads to multiple arrests

Eight people face charges following an incident in Fort Frances that left a police cruiser damaged.

OPP were attempting to arrest a person last Thursday afternoon in the downtown area on an outstanding warrant when others tried to interfere.

An officer was assault by one person with a weapon but not injured.

Eventually, order was restored with police later seizing an airsoft-like handgun, a stun gun, four grams of methamphetamine, nearly seven grams of Fentanyl, four hydromorphone capsules and eight thousand in cash.

Several charges have been laid against people aged 23 to 50 and two youth.

Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.00 contrary to s.354(1)(a)CC

Fawn Perrault, 23-years-old from Fort Frances:

Intimidation of a Justice official s.423.1(1)(b)CC
Obstruct a Peace Officer s.129(a)CC
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance, suspected Methamphetamine contrary to s.5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, suspected Fentanyl contrary to s.5(2)CDSA
Possession of a prohibited device s.92(2)CC

Jason Alexa, 48-years-old from Fort Frances:

Ashley Gauthier, 30-years-old from Fort Frances:
Mischief over $5,000 contrary to s.430(3)CC
Intimidation of a Justice official s.423.1(1)(b)CC
Obstruct a Peace Officer s.129(a)CC

Karrah Ogden, 28-years-old from Fort Frances:
Mischief over $5,000 contrary to s.430(3)CC
Intimidation of a Justice official s.423.1(1)(b)CC
Obstruct a Peace Officer s.129(a)CC

The charges against two young people arrested were not mentioned by police.

OPP say further charges against others are pending.
