Ontario’s looking for more efficiencies from municipalities.
Municipal Affairs Minister Steve Clark is issuing another round of funding to help them find those savings.
He made the announcement during last week’s Association of Municipalities of Ontario meeting.
“I’m allocating at least an additional $50 million to small and rural municipalities to allow (them) to identify more ways to modernize (their) service delivery,” says Clark. “These investments will allow municipalities the flexibility and resources required to support our communities as we work towards recovering from the pandemic.
Some northwestern Ontario communities have already taken advantage of previous funding.
Fort Frances, for example, is conducting a review of its arena operations.
Dryden, Kenora and the township of Chapple also received earlier funding.
