Eleven Benefit From Moffat Funding

Eleven agencies in the Fort Frances area this year’s recipients of funding from the Winnipeg Foundation and the Moffat Family Fund.

A total of $93,750 was made available to the town this year.

Mayor June Caul announced the benefactors at last night’s council meeting.

They include;

Salvation Army – $10,098.19 to assist with a virtual youth camp.

Northwestern Health Unit – $10,000 for its weekend nutrition program.

Fort Frances Community Garden and Kids Club – $8,965.09 to create more raised garden beds, develop a permanent water source and introduce a composting program.

Riverside Foundation for Health Care – $10,000 for its ‘Picture This’ capital campaign.

Sunset Water Sports – $14,000 for a new adaptive equipment trailer.

Fort France Volunteer Bureau – $10,00 for an island and food prep area and dish washer

Community Living Fort Frances – $3,212.45 for its Open Air Studio program.

Friends of Fort Frances Public Library – $7,551.85 for a cultural heritage knowledge series project involving the Fort Frances Library, Rainy River District Rights Relations Circle and Fort Frances Museum.

908 Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron – $12,451.52 to defray room rental costs.

KidSport – $4,980.61 to assist with sport registration fees for children in need.

Borderland Pride – $2,490.30 for 2021 Pride Celebration events.
