A Fort Frances forward is just anxious to resume learning and playing in Vermont.
Ian Tookenay, who spent last season with both the Winkler Flyers (MJHL) and Ottawa Junior Senators (CCHL), has committed to the Norwich Cadets who play NCAA Division Three hockey in Northfield.
“It was just another day of work,” recalls Tookenay, when he talked about getting the Norwich opportunity. “I was getting a lot of calls from schools asking about my future, but it seems like Norwich University was very interested in me. Once I got to Ottawa and finished the hockey season, I did my research on the school and thought about the offer for about a week. I then decided to commit the next four years of my life to them.”

Tookenay joined the Senators back in February 2021 after being dealt to complete his final season of junior hockey.
Tookenay also spent time with the Dauphin Kings (MJHL) , Fort Frances Lakers (SIJHL) and Thunder Bay Kings.
“You have to be fully vaccinated in order to get out there if you are Canadian,” added Tookenay. “I know they’re looking to get everyone with doses of the vaccine prior to the start of the school year.”
Ian Tookenay has had both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and is expected to head down to Vermont on August 20.
