The town of Rainy River is vying for the title of Canada’s Most Active Community.
It’s part of ParticipACTION’s ‘Community Better’ Challenge, aimed at getting people active during the month of June.
Rainy River Pride is promoting the event in its community.
Spokesperson Krista Anderson says residents are asked to track their minutes and report back to ParticipACTION.
“After June 30th, fifty communities will be considered finalists and will then be invited by ParticipACTION to submit an application explaining why they truly deserve to be Canada’s Most Active Community,” says Anderson.
To help residents bolster their minutes, Rainy River Pride set up several virtual activities for people to do.
Those events can be found on the Rainy River Pride Facebook page.
Anderson says a grant allowed them to the virtual activities.
“We were actually really lucky enough to have four local fitness instructors each provide a different type of virtual instructions. So they recorded those videos, and we’ve been promoting them on our social media account,” says Anderson.
There’s still time to take part.
Any resident in Rainy River can do any type of activity and record their minutes by downloading the ParticipACTION app or going to the ParticipACTION website.
The township of Emo is also registered.
