A camp for kids affected by cancer is playing it safe even once the province allows in-person camps again.
Premier Doug Ford confirmed last weekend that he plans to let kids attend summer camps this year.
The Director for Camp Quality Northwestern Ontario, Sam Stovel, says they will continue their “Camp at Home” program this summer.
“This decision was made with the guidance of our medical advisory committee,” says Stovel. “We want to keep the health and safety of our vulnerable campers at the forefront.”
The camp usually welcomes around two-dozen campers, but Stovel says that’s fallen to around 15 since they moved online.
“But we appreciate the support from our community as we return to work towards an in-person camp for the future. So seeing other organizations doing in-person camps, I think that will really lift some spirits in our community.”
