NWHU: Active COVID-19 Case Count Down

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting five new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Three of the cases in the Dryden health hub, while two are from the Sioux Lookout region.

There are no new cases in the Rainy River District where four cases are still active – three in the Fort Frances area and one in the Emo region.

The regional health authority says despite the new cases, the active case count in its catchment area is down from 53 reported on Tuesday to 47.

The biggest drop in active cases is in the Kenora area, going from 16 on Tuesday to eight.

The Sioux Lookout health hub also saw a decline in active cases, though the data still shows 31 in the region.

On the vaccine front, 34,708 doses have been administered.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports eight new cases on Wednesday, with a total active case count of 31.

Ontario saw over 23-hundred cases and 32 related deaths.

In Minnesota, the state reports 919 new cases yesterday with 15 related death.

Koochiching County reports 7 new cases, just a week after some restrictions on gatherings were lifted.
