Stay Safe On Mother’s Day: Feds

Even on Mother’s Day, federal health officials are asking you to protect your loved ones by considering the risks of gatherings and visits.

Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says although more of us are getting vaccinated, you still need to follow local public health advice.

Dr. Tam points out that more Canadians are ending up in Intensive Care Units with COVID-19 symptoms, although the country saw slightly fewer new cases on over the past week. The seven-day average new case count has dropped by two per cent since April 30th.

She says to continue washing your hands, wearing a properly-fitting face mask, and keeping your distance from others.

Families in Ontario are still under a stay-at-home order that doesn’t allow gatherings with anyone outside your household.
