Ontario’s Education Minister Stephen Lecce wants students back in their classrooms following the Spring Break.
New protocols are being implemented to make that happen.
Lecce says it includes new screening measures.
Before the screening was done at a high school. For students and staff, you had an active person asking you questions, have you been out of the country?, do you have a sibling that is sick?”, for example. Whereas in an elementary school, we didn’t do that. We are now mandating for all schools,” says Lecce.
There will also be enhanced cleaning of schools this week and increased learning outdoors following the break.
“We know it helped us in the fall. We’re going to be strongly urging as much education, experiential, outside, in our parks, in our playgrounds to make this learning process positive but safe,” says Lecce.
Students with the Rainy River District School Board were sent home Chromebooks in case they didn’t return to class after the break.
