Asymptomatic Testing Getting Positive Reaction

Asymptomatic testing is now available for students and educational workers in the Rainy River district.

Education Director with the Rainy River District School Board Heather Campbell admits the rollout was slow to come.

She says it was because of a last-minute vendor change.

“The Ministry of Education reported in March to us that the previous vendor had pulled out and had been replaced by Shoppers Drug Mart,” says Campbell.

The testing is also open, children and staff from in-school child care centres and school bus drivers.

Anyone showing a positive result will be encouraged to take the more accurate PCR test at an assessment centre,

Campbell says there has been a good response to the service.

She adds they are still exploring the possibility of other clinics being set up elsewhere in the district.
