NWHU Reports Two New Cases

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in their catchment area Monday morning.

Those new cases, both of which are in the Sioux Lookout area, follow a weekend that saw a total of 24 new cases in the region.

The regional health authority is now saying there are 74 active cases in their catchment area which is down from the 94 reported on Sunday.

The number of resolved cases is also trending in the right direction and is up from 552 on Sunday to 569 as of Monday morning.

Despite the increasing number of resolved cases, the positivity rate from tests has gone up since Friday. To date (since the start of the pandemic), the NWHU says the positivity rate is 0.81 per-cent (up from 0.79 per-cent Friday) while the positivity rate from March 15-21 was 2.15 per-cent (March 8-14 was 1.89 per-cent).

So far in the Northwestern Health Unit’s catchment area, 6,195 doses of vaccine have been administered.
