All of the NDP’s proposed bill and motions regarding the provincial response to the COVID-19 pandemic have been shot down in the Ontario Legislature.
The NDP was looking to fast-track their progress.
PC House Leader Paul Calandra says none of the motions were put forward in a timely manner.
“Typically, we don’t like to be caught by surprise by motions that are brought to the table. As we have done the entire time since I’ve been House leader, and before me, motions that are brought to the table by surprise are going to be voted down. That’s just the way the process works,” says Calandra.
The NDP had a total of nine motions, including calls for paid sick time, more hands-on care in long-term care homes and a ban on evictions during the pandemic.
