Breaking the stay-at-home order could get you a fine or charge from Provincial Police.
OPP say they’ll focus on rule-breaking in businesses and restaurants, and following up on complaints about outdoor gatherings of five people or more.
If you don’t comply with the order, you can be fined $750, and you’ll have to pay $1,000 if you prevent others from following it.
Police add that they won’t stop a person or vehicle just to check if they’re following the order.
You are not expected to provide proof that you’re out of the house for essential work.
However, they say officers can ask you to identify yourself if they have reasonable grounds to believe you are breaking the rules.
