Sol Mamakwa Returning As NDP Candidate

New Democrats in Kiiwetinoong have selected incumbent MPP Sol Mamakwa to be their candidate in the 2022 provincial election.

In the last election Mamakwa became the first person from a First Nation to be elected to office in Ontario, and is currently the Official Opposition critic for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says Mamakwa is a strong voice for his community, shining a light on the inequities people in his riding live and breath each and every day.

Horwath stresses he’s a strong advocate for clean drinking water and safe housing in the north.

Mamakwa says its been a tremendous honour to represent the people of Kiiwetinooong for the past two years.

He adds he will continue to fight for clean drinking water, adequate health care, and safe and affordable housing.
