Vaccines Becoming Available In Minnesota

Vaccines are being made available in Minnesota.

Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are being rolled out.

Koochiching County’s Director of Health and Human Services Kathy LaFrance says both are similar.

“They both need two doses. The Pfizer vaccine needs the second dose 21 days later, and the Moderna needs the second dose 28 days later,” says LaFrance.

LaFrance says there are reports of only mild side effects like sore muscles but no coughing or chest congestion.

As in Ontario, health care workers and essential workers are the first to receive it.

However, the state’s still trying to determine the definition of an essential worker.

LaFrance says others will get it in time.

“Phase 1 C will be the high-risk individuals, people over 65 with underlying conditions, and then Phase 2 will be the general public, which will probably not happen until the first part of next summer.”

LaFrance says so far, none of the vaccines has made it to the County.
