Feds, Province Invest In Atikokan Sewage System

Two levels of government come together to invest in Atikokan.

The Government of Canada is providing $1,166,964, while the province is contributing $972,373 towards upgrading the efficiency and capacity of the town’s wastewater treatment plant.

“Investments in essential public infrastructure are vital to building healthy and resilient communities,” says Marcus Powlowski, MP for Thunder Bay-Rainy River. “The upgrades to the Atikokan sewage system will ensure residents benefit from safe and reliable essential services for years to come, while also protecting the Atikokan River.”

The work also includes replacing three blowers and an aeration system to reduce operating costs and energy consumption.

The town of Atikokan is contributing $778,073.
