District Moving To Orange Level

The Thunder Bay district is officially moving to the Orange or Restrict level of the province’s COVID-19 framework.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says Thunder Bay is one of the regions going “in the wrong direction.”

A number of changes will take effect Monday at 12:01 AM.

Bars and restaurants will only allow four patrons at a table, and establishments that serve alcohol have to close at 10 PM.

Alcohol can also only be served until 9 PM.

Customers at stores, bars, restaurants, hair salons, gyms and theatres must now be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.

The limits for private functions will remain at ten people indoors and 25 people outdoors, and public events are to remain at 50 indoors and 100 outdoors.

At city recreational facilities, there will be a maximum of 50 people total per facility for all classes, organized programs or organized activities, together with the total number of people in all areas with weights and exercise machines. The pool is considered separate from this total for the Canada Games Complex.

Up to ten people per room are allowed indoors and 25 outdoors in fitness or exercise classes.

No spectators will be allowed, with the exception of one parent or guardian to accompany each child under the age of 18 who is engaged in an activity at the facility. City officials add that patrons may only be in the facility for 90 minutes except if engaging in a sport.
