An official opening Tuesday for the new OPP detachment in Fort Frances.
The $20-million facility serves both as a local detachment and a district one.
It provides police with more working space, seven holding cells and the latest in technology.
“Our government is committed to providing our police with the tools, resources and supports they need to do their jobs effectively,” says Solicitor General Sylvia Jones. “This new detachment in Fort Frances will meet the demands of police operations now and in the future and ensure the security of Ontarians and their families.”
“Our government is proud to deliver state-of-the-art policing infrastructure to support our hardworking police officers here in the Rainy River District,” says Greg Rickford, MPP for Kenora-Rainy River, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, Minister of Indigenous Affairs. “This new and modern OPP detachment will give frontline officers the tools they need to serve the people and communities across our vast region.”
OPP moved from their Civic Centre location to the new building earlier this month.
Construction began in the spring of 2019 and was completed on time and on budget.
