Another campaign to help fill the Salvation Army’s Food Bank.
Walmart in Fort Frances is back with its ‘Fight Hunger, Spark Change’ campaign.
It started on February 20 and will run until March 18.
Store manager Sherri Dyck says customers are asked to make a donation or purchase a bag of food.
“Right now, we’ve raised over $4,000 so we’re off to a great start. All of this money stays right here in Fort Frances and helps the Salvation Army with its food bank, restock their shelves. Get all of that product onto the shelves that people need,” says Dyck.

“We also have bags set up in the store that if you wanted to make a food donation or a product donation that’s in one of these bags they are already pre-setup. Most of them are under $5. If you want to grab one, they’re right at the front of the store and there’s a bin at the front you put them in,” says Dyck.

Corps Officer Arthur Heathcote calls it’s a great campaign, especially coming off the Christmas season push for local food banks.
“Every little bit helps to make sure the shelves are stocked in order that we can fulfill those needs for people that come to us looking for help,” says Heathcote.
More than 10-thousand was raised last year.
That made the Fort Frances store tops among all Walmarts involved in the national campaign.
