Oil Clean-up In Emo Could Take A Couple of Days

An oil spill in Emo didn’t cause much harm to the environment.

Mayor of the community, Harold McQuaker says the cold weather prevented the heavy crude from getting into the Rainy River.

He adds that the clean-up could take a couple of days.

“Everything has been handled in a timely fashion, in a very professional fashion,” says McQuaker.

“Oil containment is all on the east side of Highway 602, so there’s no immediate danger to the public.”

McQuaker says CN official met with them Wednesday morning to update them on the train derailment.

He adds that no oil got into the Rainy River or local wells.
