Local Sports Report For Monday, January 27

Rainy River Voyageurs women’s hockey team was shut out in their game with Iowa State, in Ames, Iowa yesterday, 1-0 in overtime.

Saturday they lost 5-1.

Trista Boulette with the Voyageurs’ lone marker in that game.

 

The Voyageurs basketball teams earned a sweep of Mesabi Range on Saturday.

T. J. O’Connor potted 23 in the men’s 99-77 victory.

The women won 81-62 with Alyssa Herrera leading the way with 19.

 

Fort Frances Lakers dropped both their games on the weekend to the Thief River Falls Norskies, losing 7-3 Saturday and 4-3 Friday.

With Wisconsin earning a point in their overtime loss to Red Lake on Saturday, the Lakers fall to last place in the standings.

 

In high school sports at Falls High, the boys basketball team lost 79-45 to Crosby-Ironton on Saturday.

The Broncos girls lost 74-60 to Crosby-Ironton in a game also played Saturday.

The girls also lost 72-37 to Mesabi East on Friday.

On the ice, Moose Lake defeated the Broncos girls hockey team Saturday 6-2.
