Campaign Seen As A Success

Some success for a program aimed at bringing people back to the International Falls area.

The Koochiching Economic Development Authority’s “Your Ticket Home” campaign gave away an airline voucher and attracted interest from over 200 people.

Spokesperson Karley Mastin says most were former residents.

“It’s easier to get people to move back here than it is to get someone fresh to move here just in general. When we saw this pie chart, we were hoping to see more that had lived here which is what we got,” says Mastin.

Respondents to the campaign were also asked to fill out a survey.

Mastin says people taking part were scattered across the U.S., living as far away as Alaska.

They also revealed the reasons why they would return to the Falls area.

“Family was number one and then outdoor activities which I think is something that we have an abundance of and we’re getting better at keeping up on that type of stuff. And quality of life.”

Mastin says the data collected will also allow for continued communication, including potential job and business opportunities.
