Some Schools In Rainy River District Closed

High Schools and Catholic schools in the Rainy River district are impacted by teachers’ strikes today.

This will be the third such one-day walk-out by area members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation.

For Catholic teachers, they’re taking part in province-wide strike action. It’s also their first work stoppage in 20 years.

Both teacher groups are standing up to back their demands for new contracts with the province.

Public elementary schools are not impacted by today’s strike action but will be shut down tomorrow when members of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario are expected to take part in a one-day strike.

Grade 7 and 8 classes within high schools at Fort Frances and Atikokan also still resume today.
