Petition Opposing Assault Rifle Ban Gaining Traction

An online petition opposing a Liberal proposal to ban military-style assault rifles has now gathered over 86-thousand signatures.

The petition was created by Alberta MP Glen Motz last month.

Motz calls the proposal pointless.

“Current and former police officers I have spoken with consider these types of proposals pointless,” said MP Motz, a former police officer with the Medicine Hat Police Service. “Criminals don’t follow the law and will not be turning in their guns. The only people who will be impacted by the Liberal plan are law-abiding Canadians who are hunters, farmers, and target shooters.”

The petition will remain up until February 15.
