Polar Plunge Good To Go

No concern with the snow impacting the annual Polar Plunge in Fort Frances.

Roughly thirty people will take part in this New Year’s Day fundraiser for the Voyageur Lions Club.

It’s also a fundraiser for the charities of choice by the participants with any money they raise split 50-50 with the Lions Club.

Organizer Bill Michl says the ice is looking good as they did some preparation in advance for the recent snowstorm.

“We had over a foot of ice here about a week ago. We’re happy that even if it snows that isn’t gonna take much ice away. We flooded on top because it was so rough so we flooded a little bit too so I’m sure we got pretty good ice,” says Michl.

The event takes place on Rainy Lake in front of the La Place Rendez-vous beginning at 1 p.m.

Michl is happy with the number of participants. It’s reached as high as over 60 one year.

He says there’s always room for more.

You can call him for a pledge sheet or just sign up before the event tomorrow.
