A draft of the province’s new forest strategy has been released.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford says the draft looks at a number of issues.
“Encouraging under-utilized species and log qualities for new products,” says Rickford, “but to really grow talent in the forest sector and encourage wood use and develop new and innovative products. And finally, to grow our market.”
Rickford says they have consulted with users of the woodlands, now it’s the public turn.
Rickford says the public is invited to comment through the province’s Environment Bill of Rights website until February 5.
