Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team defeated Winnipeg’s Westwood Collegiate 4-2 Sunday to take the Consolation side of the Vic Inn High School Hockey tournament in Brandon.

The Muskies had gone through the round-robin undefeated but a 6-3 loss to Garden City in the opener of the playoff round.

A 7-3 victory over Virden put them into the consolation final.

 

The Muskies girls hockey team lost all three of their contests at the PCI XMas Classic in Portage La Praire.

The girls lost to Sanford and Sturgeon Heights on Friday then fell 4-3 to NorWOSSA rivals, St. Thomas Aquinas Saints of Kenora on Saturday.

 

At Falls High School, the Broncos girls hockey team lost 5-2 to Superior on Saturday.

The boys team defeated Hibbing 6-2 on Friday.

Brady Wicklund and Anthony Saari each had a pair of goals.

On the courts, the boys basketball team fell 56-31 to Ely on Friday.

Riley Larson led with 17 points for the Broncos.

 

MacKenzie Flett scored twice in helping the Fort Frances Lakers earn a 5-4 win over the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Friday at the Ice for Kids Arena.

The win moved the Lakers back to .500 in the standings and four points back of the Dogs for fourth.

The Lakers are in Red Lake tomorrow.
