November is Woman Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month and November 15th is Wear Purple Day.
It’s all a part of something called the Shine the Light campaign.
This movement is designed to increase awareness and prevention of woman abuse.
Here in the Borderland Riverside Community Counselling Services and Riverside Health Care are sponsoring this important initiative.
All month long businesses and organisations are being invited to participate by displaying the campaign poster and/or decorating their windows and storefronts in purple.
The colour purple symbolizes courage, survival and honour.
By wearing purple, you are saying that you won’t stand for our mothers, our daughters, our wives, our sisters, our grandmothers or ANY woman being abused.
And guys…we HAVE to stand side by side WITH women on something like this!
So I encourage everyone to wear purple today…and if you want to borrow my cool scarf…just let me know.
