Muskies Ready For Championship Game

Fort Frances Muskies football team is getting ready to do battle in Winnipeg tomorrow as they take on the Churchill Bulldogs for the CTV Cup.

It’s the trophy given to the champions in Division 3 in the Winnipeg High School Football League.

The Muskies beat Churchill in the regular season, but Coach Vic Davis says that game is in the past.

“It’s a whole new to the team that we’re playing. They just knocked off the best team in the league so they’re feeling pretty good about themselves. (Our) kids got to remember not to take anyone lightly, stay focused and we’ll be ready for them.” says Davis.

The team’s leading rusher Sean Husiak ran for 1,135 yards on 125 carries and grabbed another 249 yards from the air. He feels they’ll be prepared.

Churchill, they obviously run a lot so we have to have a good run defense. We have a very balanced offence so if the run’s not working we can pass, and if it is for working it’ll open up a pass,” says Huziak.

The game will be played at IG Field, the home of the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers beginning at 4 p.m.

If you can’t make it to Winnipeg, you can still watch the game on YouTube.
