Library Board Given Okay To Seek Shed Proposals

Fort Frances town council is allowing the Fort Frances Public Library Board to seek out proposals for a storage shed for the library.

The Library says it needs it for storage. It currently rents a storage unit and some items are being stored at the homes of board members and staff homes. They’d like those materials closer to the library.

Councillor John McTaggart understands that but is concerned where the 10 x 16 shed might go.

“In the southwest corner of the parking lot – I don’t see this being closer or convenience for access for staff members in that location,” says McTaggart.

He’s also concerned about the loss of parking spaces and the impact on snow removal in the winter.

He’d like the library to think about using the 52 Canadians Rink where the town is considering future improvements and has applied for grants to do the work.

“Which calls for the rehabilitation of and proper entry into storage under the bleachers of the 52 Canadians arena. I’m hopeful that the library board will consider this as an alternative to their storage.”

While allowing the Library Board to proceed with an RFP process, town council is asking that final location and specifications be presented before any construction takes place.
