Hallet/Tower To Remain Closed For Year

Two tourist attractions in Fort Frances closed because of flooding will not open this year.

The town of Fort Frances has officially shuttered the lookout tower and Hallet for the season.

The facilities never opened.

The Hallet remains on blocks in the Sorting Gap Marina as town officials explore a more permanent location on land.

It was removed from the Rainy River because of concerns the rising water would break it from its moor.

Public access to the lookout in Fort Frances is officially done for the year.

The lookout tower is likely to reopen next year.
