Commercial vehicles were the subject of inspections in the Rainy River district over the last 24 hours
OPP and Ministry of Transportation enforcement officers teamed up for an enforcement blitz called Operation Corridtor.
OPP Constable Jim Davis says large trucks were either pulled over during patrols or stopped a roadside check.
One of the things being looked at were drivers’ log books.
“That’s important obviously because log books show us that they’re only working for the required hours and that’s making sure that they’re getting the appropriate number of breaks the legislation requires them to drive safely on the roadways,” says Davis.
“We’re also taking a look at that maintenance levels of the vehicles to make sure that they’re operating within the regulations. That’s really where the MTO officers come int play.”
The blitz started Thursday at 6 a.m. and ended this morning at 6 a.m.
No details of how well the blitz went have yet been released.
