Funding for new facilities at Emo Fairgrounds

More than $850,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is being issued to three projects in the west end of the Rainy River District.

The Rainy River District Valley Agricultural Society is getting over $550,000 for improvements to facilities at the Emo Fairgrounds.

Three hundred and seventy-five thousand is being used to replace a concession booth and exhibit hall.

The new facility is larger, more modern and accessible for various purposes and user groups.

The Society also receives another $180,000 to install new fencing around the fairgrounds.

The Heritage Fund is also providing $302,220 to the Rainy River Cattleman’s Association to refurbish its sales barn in Stratton.

A release says, “the project will provide safe and efficient operations for cattle hosting events and other activities and help increase business operations for people across the northwest.

“It’s no secret that Rainy River is a bustling agricultural hub for our region, and with the help of the NOHFC, we are making targeted investments in projects that improve operations for local agri-operators,” states Greg Rickford, MPP for Kenora-Rainy River and Minister of Northern Development in the release.

The improvements at the fairgrounds will be showcased this weekend at the Emo Fall Fair.
