Lakes back within rule curves

Water levels on Rainy and Namakan Lakes are back to normal.

The International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board says both lakes have dropped within their respective rule curves.

The curves establish preferred minimum and maximum levels.

Both lakes have been higher than normal for the last several months due to heavy rain that fell around the basin.

The board says dam operators are now adjusting outflows to maintain lake levels to within the middle of the rule curves as conditions allow.
