Legal Aid Clinic Worried About Budget Cut

The Northwest Community Legal Clinic is worried about a 30 per cent to Legal Aid Ontario’s budget.

The reduction came in last week’s provincial budget.

The regional clinic receives it’s funding the provincial body.

Executive Director Trudy McCormick says the clinic’s already made steps to reduce its overhead and any further reduction to their budget will directly impact on their serve clients.

“We all see clients. We all help folks to keep a roof over their head and food on their table. And any cut would impact us so that we would have no choice but to reduce services,” says McCormick.

McCormick says the human and community impact will be huge because of the size of the area they represent.

McCormick says they are still awaiting word from Legal Aid Ontario on how much funding they will lose.
