Halkirk Fish Fry Goes Saturday

A fundraiser this weekend for a volunteer fire department in the rural area.

The Halkirk Township Fire Protection Team is holding its 31st annual fish fry tomorrow.

Spokesperson R0berta Oliver says it’s an important event for the team.

“It helps us keep our fire hall updated, keeps it running, keeps the equipment going. We do have a fire truck. We have about 12 volunteer firefighters, which are always geared up. So it just helps with any of the little things we have to get for the fire hall,” says Oliver.

The event will take place at the department’s fire hall on Bear’s Pass Road at 12 p.m. on Saturday, ending at 6 p.m.

“It consists of walleye, french fries, beans, coleslaw. We throw in desserts and a drink. It’s $15 for adults and $5 for kids,” notes Oliver.

There will also be a penny table and a bouncy castle for the children.
