One arrested in Vermilion Bay

A 59 year old has been charged following a serious assault in Vermilion Bay.

The OPP were contacted around 10:00 Friday morning and uniformed officers, the Northwest Emergency Response Team and Northwest EMS responded.

Police say when they arrived at the scene they discovered one person was injured.

They were taken to hospital and later released.

Additionally the incident prompted a hold and secure at nearby Lillianberg School.

Photos submitted to Acadia Broadcasting from listeners show part of the investigation involved an area near the gas pumps at Bobby’s Corner.

A suspect was arrested and faces a number of charges including:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Pointing A Firearm
  • Discharge With Intent
  • Unauthorised Possession Of A Firearm
  • Adult Careless Use of A Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device Or Ammunition

The accused has been remanded to the Kenora District Jail to appear in Kenora District Bail Court on Tuesday.
