Canadian fuel sales rebounding from COVID-19

Statistics Canada has released its 2022 fuel sales numbers.

42.5 billion litres of gasoline was sold in 2022, an increase of 5.6% from 2021 bringing sales back to almost pre-pandemic numbers.

This comes after a 20-year low was hit in 2020.

Ontario led the way for the increase in gas sales seeing an 11.5% increase within the province, followed by Alberta with a 9.5% increase, and Nova Scotia and the Yukon both at 2.3%.

Diesel performed even better coming out above pre-pandemic sales in 2019 by 2.4% with 18.3 billion litres sold.

Alberta led the way for the diesel sales increase seeing a 13% increase within the province.

Fuel sales have rebounded well as Canadians have resumed their pre-pandemic travel routines.
