Queen’s Park to be renovated

The Ontario Legislature building will be undergoing a major renovation.

The government has introduced legislation call the Queen’s Park Restoration Act, which will establish a new ministry.

The Queen’s Park Secretariat will oversee the planning of a restoration of the building, which was built in 1893.

Minister responsible Paul Calandra says the plumbing, heating, electrical and IT systems are at or beyond end of
life and are at risk of total failure.

As part of the comprehensive restoration project, there will be a temporary relocation of parliamentary operations.

The renovation is expected to take a couple of years to complete.
