It’s Time For Some Board-er Games

A new workplace training, skills and socialization center will soon open in Fort Frances.

Board-er Games was developed by the Valley Adult Learning Association with funding acquired through the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.

To promote the program, staff have organized a Trivia event at Rainy Lake Square tonight at 6 p.m.

Program manager Alyce Elston says six teams are competing.

“The night will be divided into three rounds, with a written trivia portion, charades, and a lightning round. All trivia questions will be evenly distributed across the knowledge bank of generation ZX, millennials and boomers. Your best bet to win would be to have a diverse team,” says Elston.

The event already has its teams, but the public is welcome to come down and watch and enjoy some free popcorn.

There will also be an information booth providing more information about Board-er Games.

The program will soon have a permanent presence in downtown Fort Frances.

It is aimed at people with disabilities, mental health concerns or other disorders.

“We have 21 participants, and we have a goal of 30 in total to fill in the next six months. If you or someone you know has a disability or mental health condition and is interested in joining our team, they can call us at 807-274-3553.”

You can also find more information by going to the program’s Facebook page or visiting its booth at Rainy Lake Square during the Thursday markets.
