OPP Officer Shot And Killed In Southern Ontario

Tragedy in southern Ontario impacting the policing community across the province.

A young officer, only one year on the job with the OPP, was shot and killed in the line of duty Tuesday afternoon.

The officer responded to a vehicle in the ditch in the Hagersville area and when he arrived he was shot.

OPP say 28-year-old Grzeorz Pierzchala was transported to hospital where we succumbed to his injuries.

Two people fled the scene but after a major search of the area both were taken into custody.

No details on the suspects or motive have been released at this time.
