Emo’s Knox United Church will feed 150 people at its community Christmas dinner.
The event takes place tomorrow, but pre-registration was required.
Joyce Meyers, one of the organizers, says it has become very popular.
“This is our fourth year. We started it when Covid hit, so we decided to have a frozen takeout dinner. And this year has just really taken off. We were sold out a week ago,” says Meyers.
Meyers says support from New Gold and several volunteers has also helped keep the dinner going.
The planning and preparation started two weeks ago.
“We’ve had volunteers come out just tremendously to support cooking ,assembling and delivering. We started on December 7 and assembled 75. Then on December 14, we assembled 75 more and froze them all. So then on the 23rd, we’ll package them all up and then deliver,” says Meyers.
Volunteers will deliver about 100 meals to people living between Devlin and Rainy River. Others will be picked up at the Church on Saturday.
