Boat Parade is a Go

There will be a boat parade for the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship after all.

Staff at the Beyak Automotive Group have stepped forward to handle the organization.

Tournament organizers earlier this week indicated they didn’t have the manpower or time to reorganize the parade after the town issued a notice, denying it access to sections of Front Street that are still closed due to the recent flooding.

Beyak’s Marketing and Public Relations Manager Holly Kaemingh says they are excited to take it over.

“With Sunset Country Ford being the presenting sponsor for the Fort Francis Canadian Bass Championship, we were looking for more that we could do down there. The boat parade is just such a monumental event for the community and for families and kids. We were really excited to be able to take that on,” says Kaemingh.

Unlike previous parades, the parade will leave the tent site, travelling west to Mosher Avenue and Nelson Street before ending at Victoria Avenue.

Kaemingh says they felt it would be easier for the anglers who would be attending the rules meeting prior.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. today.

“We’re hoping we have lots of angler participation and anyone that wants to come on out and wish the anglers well. We hope to see lots of people out. I really think the community needs this after after COVID and after the flooding. I think it’s just going be great to see people out on the waterfront again and just doing things as a community.”
