Seniors Centre Welcomes New Volunteers

The Sister Kennedy Centre is putting out a call for more volunteers.

The Fort Frances Senior Centre is in a good position right now.

“We have a good group of girls that come in regularly once a week for four hours,” says the centre’s manager Cindy Noble. “They’re just mainly working in the kitchen, serving coffee, making lunch. Most of the time, though, they’re sitting out at the table having coffee and talking to the people that come in.”

The Centre will always welcome new faces.

Noble says She says tasks can vary from helping with various activities like bingo, providing some companionship to seniors who visit or even promoting a hobby to others.

“I got girls that come in. We had Ukrainian egg writing. We had that this spring, and that went over huge. We’re going to have it again. We have another girl who comes in and does computer or telephone help, one on one. So if you’re having trouble with your phone or you want to know a new program on your computer, she’ll help you,” says Noble.

If you can lend some help, even for an hour or two, call Cindy at 807-271-2021.
