One More Public Hearing Into Riding Redistribution

The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission will hold a third in-person hearing into the riding distribution in northwestern Ontario.

The proposal calls for the Thunder Bay-Rainy River Riding to also include Kenora and Dryden.

MPP for that riding Marcus Powlowski says he already covers a large area with many different jurisdictions.

“The amount of issues I have to deal with compared to if your one of five MP’s in Brampton,” Powlowski said recently at a public hearing held in Kenora.

“The same if your are a constituent in Brampton and you want to talk to your MP, you got a 10 minute drive. Whereas (here) you have to drive 500 kilometers if your want to talk to your MP.”

The in-person session will be taking place in Thunder Bay on November 8th.

It will take place at the Valhalla Inn starting at 6:30 pm on Tuesday.

There were also in-person hearings in Kenora and Sioux Lookout last month.
