Federal Election Events Day 13

On the federal election trail on Thursday, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau promised a permanent annual increase of $500 to the guaranteed income supplement for seniors, $750 for couples.

Conservative leader Erin O’Toole outlined a plan to protect gig economy workers.

If elected, the Tories would require gig companies to make contributions to the new portable Employee Savings Account to create a safety net for workers.

Today, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh continues his travels through northwestern Ontario with a day-long visit to Thunder Bay.

He starts his day with an announcement about health care.

He’ll later meet with Indigenous leaders before helping to kick off the campaign of Thunder Bay-Rainy River candidate Yuk-Sum Won.

Trudeau is spending time in the Mississauga area.

O’Toole visits Newfoundland-Labrador and northern Nova Scotia.
