Six new forest fires in the northwest region

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reporting six new forest fires across northwestern Ontario.

One of those fires is in the Rainy River District. It is located near Antoine Lake, about 26 kilometres south of Atikokan.

Other small blazes within the Kenora, Dryden and Sioux Lookout fire regions.

As of last night, 101 fires were burning in the northwest region.

The MNRF says fourteen are considered not under control, with another 65 being monitored.
