12 year old faces B&E and firearm charges

A 12 year old youth faces a number of charges after breaking into a Fort Frances business and pointing a weapon at police.

The incident tipped off around midnight on Sunday after an alarm was tripped at the business, responding officers observed a person inside before they brandished a firearm and pointed it at officers.

Police entered the business and arrested the child, who cannot be named due to provisions within the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

They face the following charges:
• Break & Enter with intent to steal a firearm
• Pointing a Firearm
• Assault A Peace Officer with a weapon
• Mischief Under $ 5,000

They were held in custody before appearing in a Fort Frances courtroom Monday.
