Lecce: Signs Point To In-Class Learning

Ontario’s Education Minister says all signs are pointing to in-class learning this September.

Stephen Lecce says he’s been working closely with the Medical Officer of Health, and the plan is for a return to the classroom.

“With low cases in the community, we know, absolutely that we’ll be able to return kids back to class,” says Lecce. “The Chief Medical Officer of Health is working now on the final guidance on what we can do to maintain the safety of schools.”

Lecce says an official announcement could come within the next two weeks.

“The Chief Medical Officer of Health will be sharing final guidance with the Ministry in the coming weeks. We will provide that to parents, with the intention of restoring extra-curricular sports, clubs, and a more social interactive yet continuing to be a safe learning experience.”

He adds that the aggressively rising vaccination rate is giving them an incredible sense of confidence.
